'Solutions' at Garden Organic
Solutions Renewable Energy Ltd are pleased to be displaying solar technology at Ryton Organic Gardens on the 4th April, Community Day - FREE entry to Coventry residents. The display will include working solar hot water rig, which will show how the sun can heat domestic hot water (all we need is a bit of sun!).
'Solutions' at EcoBuild 2008
We recently helped construct a stand for BAXI at EcoBuild
2008 at Earls Court to mark the launch of their evacuated
tube collector. The collector performs particularly well
in cold conditions as the vacuum inside each tube helps to prevent
heat loss. The tubes also take up slightly less space on the
roof than flat-plate collectors of the same output.
We Now Use Biodiesel
We are pleased to now use 75% biodiesel in our company vehicles. We will be moving towards 100% biodiesel use shortly after a further trial period. There has been no need to make any modifications to the vehicles, other than change the fuel filters after a couple of tanks of biodiesel. This is because the biodiesel cleans the fuel lines. We are still using a low percentage of normal diesel for a period, while we check with manufacturers that all the engine components are compatible. But we are hopeful that we can move to 100% carbon-neutral biodiesel shortly.
"Solarflo" Solar Thermal Domestic Hot Water System
Baxi/Potterton's range of solar products was introduced on a day-long training course that we recently attended. The 'Solarflo' system is a complete package including collectors, pump station and mains pressure cylinder. The collectors can sit on the roof - ideal for existing buildings, or be integrated - which is especially suitable for new-builds.
"Greenstore" Ground Source Heat Pumps
Solutions Renewable Energy have attended a two day course on the operation and installation of Worcester Bosch's 'Greenstore' series of ground source heat pumps. The system makes use of the energy from the sun which is absorbed by the earth. The energy below the surface is available to be extracted by the heat pump.
New Solar Leaflet Available
Solutions Renewable Energy have produced a new leaflet outlining the benefits of solar thermal collectors. The leaflet aims to answer some of the initial questions customers may have about whether solar energy is suitable for their household. A copy is available for download from here.
"Solutions" Featured in "Professional Heating & Plumbing Installer"
A solar thermal installation carried out by Solutions Renewable Energy Ltd is featured in the June 2007 issue of Professional Heating and Plumbing Installer magazine. The magazine is available for free at most builder's and plumber's merchants. Some pictures from the installation are shown in Gallery 3.

"Solutions Apply for BRE Accreditation"
Solutions Renewable Energy Ltd is accredited for solar thermal installations under the DTI's "Clearskies" scheme. This scheme enables customers to claim a £400 grant towards the cost of installations, but it is due to be replaced in 2008. We have applied for accreditation under the new "BRE" administered scheme.
